Sonja Feldmeier

Sonja Feldmeier lives and works in Basel and in various other locations worldwide, such as Panama, Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, London, Delhi, and Kolkata. She works with painting, airbrush, photography, video, and audio and develops objects and complex installations.
Her numerous sojourns on different continents constitute an important resource for her oeuvre. During her travels she assembles an extensive photo, video, and audio archive that serves as the material for her works. In extensive narrative settings with multimedia works, Sonja Feldmeier poses questions concerning identities and attributions, concer-ning the migration of people, objects, and symbols. She is interested in communication processes and construction models; in her works she examines how value systems and patterns of meaning manifest in images.
